10 reasons why we should appreciate mums!

  • We never get days off
  • We don’t get to lie in
  • Our coffee/tea always gets cold
  • Our food is always cold
  • The house doesn’t stay clean for long
  • The washing basket is never full
  • Our clothes are never 100% clean
  • We schedule our day around the kids
  • Selfcare usually gets pushed away
  • When they sleep, we dont sleep! We do everything we couldnt do with them awake

Yes I could add more but I’ll do an opposite now:

  • A mothers love is unmeasurable
  • We love you more than ourselves
  • Nobody will love you like we do
  • We laugh with you, and cry with you
  • When you’re sick we feel helpless
  • Your smile can wipe away all pain
  • You are the most beautiful to us
  • We would die & kill for you
  • We would spend our last money on you
  • We will always be there for you

This saying being a mum is one of the hardest things I’ve ever done! But I wouldn’t trade it for the world. From the first time I heard his heartbeat I knew this is what I’m meant to do. To love him! When I first say his face and held him in my arms I felt this overpowered sense of love and devotion. This feeling is both amazing and scary, and its when they first suffer/cry that we feel helpless. We wish we could take their pain away and make them happy again.

That first smile warms our heart like nothing else in the world. I’ve got 3 children and their smile still warms my heart❤️

Today is Mother’s Day in Uk and it’s a day to celebrate mums!

Happy mother’s day to New mums, its so hard specially during this time in our lives when we are on lockdown and don’t have all the support we need in those first days, weeks, months!

Happy mother’s day to rhose who’s mums are in heaven. Im so deeply sorry for your loss and I can even imagine how you’re feeling and how you long for her embrace. RIP mums and Im sure they are very proud of the person you’ve become.

Happy mother’s day to those wanting and trying to be mum’s. I have no idea of your pain & struggling but I offer my support and love and strength to you! If it happens then Im sure you will be an amazing mother and if it doesn’t then remember there are so many children in care who needs a mummy.

Happy mother’s day to single mums who have nobody to help them, that have to do everything alone and can’t have a moment to themselves, struggle financially and emotionally! You are so strong because you have to be! Im so proud of you!

Happy mother’s day to those who have lost their baby/children. My heart goes out to you and I can even begin to imagine how hard your heart aches specially today! Im so sorry for your loss! May you one day be reunited with your angel in heaven and your heart be whole again❤️

And last but no least, to those who don’t have a relationship with their mother’s. I’m so sorry and I can’t imagine how it is to not have a mother, someone who should love you indefinitely. My fiancés mother left him and 5 other brothers/sister at a young age. The youngest sibling was 2 years old at the time. It makes no sense to me but I am so proud of their father who stepped up and was a mum & a dad for all 6 kids.

These are the cards I received from my children. And these mean more to me than shop bought ones. Because they put their hearts and minds into making these. I love you my babies❤️

Evening skin routine 30+

Reaching 30 was a milestone. A milestone I reached during Lockdown. But I promised myself something…

That I would start being a priority! I would start being kind to myself and truly caring for myself!

You would think it comes easy but it doesn’t. There’s so many other things I could be doing but I choose me! I choose to spend time on me. It might be the odd 5min here, 10min there but it’s when I forget about everything else and focus on loving myself.

In the morning I get my AM routine

  • Wash face & put sunscreen & moisturiser
  • Brush teeth
  • Fix my hair
  • Get dressed! Like properly! Not just any old rag
  • Put some makeup on to feel pretty
  • Write my daily to do list

These seem like small things but they make a huge difference in my day.

During the day I try not to be so hard on myself too, I don’t rush through things anymore and spend more moments with my family and clean afterwards.

The evenings are the best! After bedtime and tidying up the kitchen & lounge for tomorrow I get more me time!

A few weeks ago I became an Agora Ambassador and they gifted me and amazing box full of treats ❤️

Spiced yumyums aka Koeksisters recipe

I was born in South Africa and this is our usual Sunday breakfast!

It’s like a spiced syrupy coconut sprinkled yumyum! Its delicious and once you try one you can’t stop eating them! They’re addictive!

My mum usually makes these a few times a year, big batch to freeze extras! Lucky me 😊 but here’s the recipe if you would like to try it! You won’t regret it

1kg flour (8cups)
125 ml sugar
2 pkt of instant yeast
2tsp ground ginger
1tsp cinnamon
1tsp fresh nutmeg
1tsp all spice
2 or 3 tbsp of aniseed
1 tsp ground cardamon
2 tspsalt
1/2 cup of oil
700 ml lukewarm water

Mix all dry ingredients together then make a soft sticky mixture. Let it rise double in size. Roll and cut into small rolls. Let it rise double in size before frying it . Cool off while making your syrup. Equal parts of water and sugar. I always put a cinnamon stick in. Syrup and put coconut flakes on.

Let me know if you’ve made it and how much you love it ❤️

The truth about going back to school!

The kids were up at 7, the oldest having an asthma coughing fit and the baby screaming from her room to be rescued 🙄

The middle one just happily does his things, toilet and downstairs to watch tv. Lets start this mayhem!

I got dressed and actually put makeup on to disguise the dark circles, i thought about putting some cute lipstick on but nobody will see under the mask anyway!

I think the oldest doesn’t wanna go back to school. His tummy hurts now. Whats next? Headache & diahorrea? Well he will still be going to school! Tough luck! (I’m joking obviously!) School after a global pandemic will be different and hard to get used to but it’s for the best. Academically they need it. COVID-19 was a disaster that no one saw coming and i doubt it will go away for good.

Hopefully 3 school runs will help up my daily steps and get me healthier along with healthy food. Today I feel like having chicken curry! South African style. I’ll add the recipe later if you’d like. Yesterday I baked a cake so the kids can have a treat after school tomorrow. Its a simple coconutty sponge that we all love and disappears quickly.

The weekend was a busy one cleaning the house, gardening my many plants (inside & outside) and planning ahead for summer lounging. This will be the best summer ever! We have to make the most of it. Thats what we’ve learnt from lockdown and not seeing friends and family! Life is too short and we need to live it to the fullest❤️

Fridayyyyyy 🎉🎉🎉

I woke up with a spring in my step today!

I cleaned around the house, actually got dressed and put makeup on! Did washing and cooking!

I’ve got so much to do this weekend but I’m so motivated that I’m excited about it all! Today I did some gardening, some plant care and repotting. Planning to put some plants out in the front of my house, make it look all cute etc for summer. I’m trying to convince my partner to make a pallet bench to sit on so let’s see how far that goes.

My son has almost finished reading all his books and honestly buying them new is expensive because he reads loads so they’re either from Facebook marketplace or charity shops. Tomorrow we’re picking a big bundle of books for him on the way to our food shop. Obviously he would rather watch tv, play games on the phone or Playstation but he’s only allowed those on weekends. Boring mum I know🙄

Anyway the reason I’m in such a good mood is because SCHOOL STARTS MONDAY!! I’ll be skipping to school at 8:30am to drop the oldest, home, then back to school at 12 for the youngest boy, home then pick them both up at 3! Luckily the school is literally 5min walk from home. All this while juggling little madam and house chores. It’s gonna be a whole new routine but I’m sure it will be fine. One piece of the puzzle of normality in place 🙏🏼

Of course I’m worried about COVID-19! But I also know the kids need to go back to REAL school, not online or home packs. They need interaction with other children in REAL life and a better teacher than me🤣🙈 I’m not bad I think but there’s definitely better teachers than me. I totally appreciate all the teachers and their hard work and endless patience. I could not do it.

I need some REAL life interaction with adults! I don’t know how much longer I can handle this being at home with only my family . They’re all lovely and funny and very loving but 24/7 is long!!!

I’m off to bed to watch Netflix (American Horror stories) while sipping on some gin and sneakily eating M&Ms! Hope you all have a great weekend! The end is near🙏🏼🙏🏼
