How I started blogging!
The last 2 years have been horrible for everyone! Something we thought would just be a passing virus took over the whole world! Everyone knows someone who’s had the virus or caught it themselves.
My 3rd child was born in April just after Covid-19 started spreading around the UK and I was so worried about being in hospital, about catching the virus, baby catching the virus and the rest of my family catching it too. It was manic. Thankfully everything went well and after baby was born we just stayed indoors for ages! Honestly that time in our lives was a blur of masks, quarantine and hand sanitizer.
My partner had lost his job as the company he worked for closed down. It was terrible timing but there was an advantage. He got to spend so much time with us, and it was amazing. He saw our baby’s first milestones and celebrated with us.
That’s when it clicked! I wanted to be home for everything. For every milestone, birthday, anniversary and family event! I didn’t want to miss out on these times because of work. So I started researching about blogging.
So I could work from home? Earn money? Get free products? And enjoy time with my family? Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes!!!! Sign me up
Obviously it wasn’t easy to start, I had to start by getting a blog for work purposes not personal, pay money for the blog services etc and put in the work! Sign up to agencies, companies that send me products to review, find my niche, write posts, share them on social media and get followers.
Working from home was a big advantage.
Once I had a routine things started getting better and I started getting jobs here and there. Small product reviews in exchange for free products and money!
I started applying to online jobs on blogging websites that pay me to actually write my own posts! People pay me to write! I’m still amazed as you may be able to notice.
There is different types of bloggers so you can choose the one that suits you best: food, family, travel, beauty, reviews, diary etc so you can write about what you love and know about.
Once I started posting regularly and content that people within my niche could relate with it I started gaining followers, which increased my engagement which then shows my content to more people. Thats what alot of blogging jobs like to see because then it will help increase views to their website too. It’s a win-win situation that everyone benefits from.
I started with small little review groups and websites that send you products to review and you share your review on their page and on your social media, then started getting some that give me free products and money too either in gift cards or paypal payment. Once I was more established I felt more confident writing about any given topic and started applying for freelance jobs where I got good writing rates.
Pinterest, facebook pages and google searches give you great information and tips on almost everything you need. Some bloggers share their tips on how to start your own blog too and sell blogging courses which are an amazing idea because it’s very helpful to first time bloggers who feel a bit lost. Overall it’s been a wonderful learning adventure that I’m falling more and more inlove with.
