Me VS COVID-19

On Saturday the 25th of September i woke up when my partner got home at 6:30am from work and as he got into bed he told me the baby needs a change coz it smelled like she’d done a poo. ‘No she hasn’t!’ I snapped back half asleep still. He insisted she had but I couldn’t smell anything. ‘You better do a Covid-19 test!’ He joked

I didn’t want to admit it but I couldn’t smell anything! Not even when I walked past the shoe storage that normally smells of stinky feet. So off i went to do a lateral flow test. It didn’t take long till 2 lines showed up! SHIT!

I’m positive!! I’ve got Covid-19!

All these thoughts came rushing to my head like a bloody avalanche!

  • What about the baby!? Will she catch it through me?
  • She won’t take medicine how will she cope?
  • What about the boys!? What if they catch it?
  • And Marco? He will have to isolate at home and won’t get paid!
  • Who’s going to cook!? Marco cooks but what if he gets ill too?
  • Who’s gonna clean the house!? Marco cleans but not the way I clean? You ladies understand me!
  • How will we get food? Who will help us?
  • ARGGGGGGGGG

We tested everyone and only I was positive! Great! A bit relieved now. I was fine besides the lack of smell and in a house of boys and a baby I didn’t mind. The first few days I was ok just a bit annoyed and tired.

Wednesday clark woke up and said his belly was sore. Immediately I made everyone do another test! And yip, you guessed it! Clark got it too! He’s got asthma like me! SHIT X2! Everyone else was negative. Thank God!

My poor baby! Clark I mean! He will always be my baby! And now I gave him Covid! I’m so sorry!

Around 11/12pm Marco said he’s throat was hurting! C’mon!!! Are you serious!? Another test just to be sure because he was due back to work that evening. Positive! It was negative this morning!!! What now!? I cried myself to sleep that night.

So that’s 3 now! By then I had horrible headaches, body aches like I’d been hit by a truck and had the normal loss of taste and smell. My breathing was ok which I was glad. Clark only had a bellyache and Marco’s throat was hurting.

I prayed the little ones didn’t get it. Please God help them!

Thursday afternoon my breathing got worse. I’m getting breathless by just getting dressed! Going to the toilet and just sitting up was like running a marathon. Luckily I have spare inhalers because I had a feeling I was going to need it. And I did.

Everything was a blur till about a week later on Saturday the 9th of October. My life consisted of waking up, feeding the baby and using my inhaler every 10minutes. I was weak, always tired and couldn’t be bothered to do anything. I was so thankful that the little ones didn’t catch it and that Clark & Marco were ok.

I had one friend who helped by doing some shopping for us and we usually have a good stock of UHT milk and freezer always has loads of meat & vegetables. We were prepared for something like this. We survived! We struggled more emotionally than anything else. We

Of course my asthma had to remind me how weak my lungs are, so I had long Covid symptoms such as fatigue, weakness and struggling to breath. I used up inhalers after inhalers. I literally was out of breath just climbing the stairs and walking to the kids school that’s just 5 min away! I had inhalers everywhere, my room, the boys room, baby’s room, kitchen & lounge, my 2 coats and in the car just incase. I hated that of all things breathing is what I couldn’t do normally.

Finally after about 3 weeks I could go back to my normal self! No needing to rely on the inhaler for everything. Thank God!
